Q. Hi I am a young mother of a newborn baby boy and everytime I try something for my hair it doesn't work or my hair comes out. I am very scared about hair products now a days. Can you please give me some advice and what's the differents between the mint and the lavender??? My hair been natural for a year now. Perms scare me too. Are these hair products right for me? I have thick but soft hair and it is very hard to manage.
A. Our products are very gentle, and their main purpose is to moisturize and condition black, African, and textured hair. I developed these products because my own hair was being damaged by using the wrong products. The peppermint leaves a kind of tingling/cooling sensation on your scalp. The lavender-rosemary doesn't leave that kind of sensation, but it is good for your hair. I would recommend the lavender-rosemary unless you know you want peppermint. The products can make black hair easier to manage depending on how you use them. One way is to use the conditioner as a detangler. After you have washed your hair, but before you dry it, apply a generous amount of hair conditioner to your hair. Then comb it out in individual sections with a wide tooth comb, beginning at the ends, and working your way down to the roots. When you are finished, style your hair, and then blot the hair dry to remove excess conditioner and water. Let your hair dry, or use a blow dryer to dry the hair with hot air. My sister uses this technique with her hair when she wears it naturally. She applies the conditioner to her hair and then combs it to the back of her neck and braids it. She then ties it up in a scarf and lets it dry for about 30 minutes. When she is done she has waves. Sometimes after she does this she will unloosen the braid and put a headband on. I can't guarantee that everyone's hair will produce waves like hers, because her hair is very soft and fine, but the point that I am trying to make is that our products have helped her, and others, get more control over their natural hair. If you have any more questions let me know.
